Who Says Money Doesn’t Go With You?

Diamond Geezer…
Perhaps taking his cue from luxury retailers, Damien Hirst swapped dead sharks for precious stones, encrusting a life-size cast of a human skull in 8,601 diamonds. When the blinged-out head sold for a reported $122 million to an anonymous investment group, the British artist’s genius for the grand gesture was confirmed (he later told Paradis magazine that his business manager felt they should have asked for twice as much). Hirst himself is said to be one of the investors, but there’s no word on whether Kimora Lee Simmons is involved.

US Marine’s Cancer Misdiagnosed

The family of Marine Sgt. Carmelo Rodriguez says military doctors misdiagnosed his skin cancer. Now, as Byron Pitts reports, they want the U.S. government held accountable for his untimely death.

Congrats on Your Love

“Your life and my life flow into each other as wave flows into wave, and unless there is peace and joy and freedom for you, there can be no real peace or joy or freedom for me. To see reality - not as we expect it to be but as it is - is to see that unless we live for each other and in and through each other, we do not really live very satisfactorily; that there can really be life only where there really is, in just this sense, love.”

- Frederick Buechner, The Magnificent Defeat

Congratulations Michele and Mike, Jessica and Tyler!!!

Gorgeous Niagara Falls

Annie Taylor holds the distinction of being the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. When she made her trip she said she was 43 years of age, however genealogical records confirm she was actually 63 years old.

This Bay City, Michigan school teacher was strapped by her assistants into a special harness in a wooden barrel. Several newspaper people were on hand as a small boat towed the barrel out into the mainstream of the Niagara River and was cut loose.

Slammed by the rapids first one way, then another, Mrs Taylor was sure she hit the rocks. Yet just 17 minutes after the plunge, her barrel drifted close enough to the Canadian Shore to be hooked and dragged onto the rocks. Dazed but triumphant, the first person to conquer the mighty Falls of Niagara found the fame she sought so desperately.

Unfortunately, 20 years after her brush with death, she died destitute in Niagara Falls, New York. On emerging from her barrel after plunging over Niagara Falls on October 24, 1901 Annie Taylor said “No one ought ever do that again.”

Confucious

A New Earth Quote by Eckhart Tolle

Reading this book is awesome… Here’s a great quote from A New Earth that I just read last night…

“The more unconscious individuals, groups, or nations are, the more likely it is that egoic pathology will assume the form of physical violence.  Violence is a primitive but still very widespread way in which the ego attempts to assert itself, to prove itself right or another wrong.  With very unconscious people, arguements can easily lead to physcial violence.”

Hmmmm…..is our government and the rest of the world participating in this war unconscious?
It seems like there needs to be an overhaul with the world’s ego. Why are we spending 400 BILLION dollars on unconscious activity when we can be doing so much more with that money!

Visa IPO - Biggest US IPO In American History

Visa IPO - Biggest US IPO In American History

Visa’s shares surged 28 percent in the first day of trading. Volume was heavy, with more than 175 million shares changing hands. Visa planned to sell as much as $17.1 billion of stock in late March, following in the footsteps of its smaller rival MasterCard, which went public in May 2006. The company sold 406 million shares in the offering, raising just under $18 billion. This is no surprise since Americans use plastic over paper now a days. How often do you pay with cash anymore?

Synchronicity

The uncanny coincidence. The unlikely conjunction of events. The startling serendipity. Who hasn’t had it happen in their life? You think of someone for the first time in years, and run into them a few hours later. An unusual phrase you’d never heard before jumps out at you three times in the same day. On a back street in a foreign country, you bump into a college roommate. Maybe a book falls off the shelf at the bookstore and it is
exactly what you need.

Carl Jung believed it was a glimpse into the underlying order of the universe. He coined the term synchronicity to describe what he called the “acausal connecting principle” that links mind and matter. He said this underlying connectedness manifests itself through meaningful coincidences that cannot be explained by cause and effect. Such synchronicities occur, he theorized, when a strong need arises in the psyche of an individual. He described three types that he had observed: the coinciding of a thought or feeling with an outside event; a dream, vision or premonition of something that then happens in the future; and a dream or vision that coincides with an event occurring at a distance. No one has come up with a definition that has superceded his, although there has been debate on whether events linked to precognition and clairvoyance should be included as synchronicity.

Some scientists see a theoretical grounding for synchronicity in quantum physics, fractal geometry, and chaos theory. They are finding that the isolation and separation of objects from each other is more apparent than real; at deeper levels, everything — atoms, cells, molecules, plants, animals, people — participates in a sensitive, flowing web of information. Physicists have shown, for example, that if two photons are separated, no matter by how far, a change in one creates a simultaneous change in the other.

Synchronicities are sometimes regarded as signs, and some people consciously use them to make decisions in life. In the novel The Celestine Prophecy, a bestseller which thrust synchronicity into the public consciousness, James Redfield says that all coincidences are significant because they point the way to an unfolding of our personal destiny.
