I wanted to share some thoughts about the Go Green Expo in New York, NY April 26-27, 2008
Most people left the expo with a huge bag, filled with: pamphlets, brochures, magazines and a wide variety of product samples. I find a degree of irony here, this is meant to be an eco-friendly show. There was more paper given out to attendees than one could receive as junk mail during a four month period. Did some people miss the point of the expo?
All attendees received a re-usable bag, (I wonder how many recipients will use it again?) It’s made from polypropylene, which is an unnatural non-woven material. This isn’t the most recycled material known to man – BIG NOTE to Expo organizers to opt for a more eco-friendly recycled and sustainable material next time!
The Go Green Expo was an excellent start. Many of the attendees were already educated eco-conscious individuals. This expo will need to find ways of luring in the not-so eco-educated.
